Hi everyone,
I'm pleased to announce that we're opening the nomination period for the
Xubuntu Council [1], which will - as soon as instated - supersede the
"Xubuntu Project Lead" position that I am currently holding.
== What is the Council? ==
The Xubuntu Council is responsible for overseeing the development direction
of Xubuntu and enabling the community to work with Xubuntu as smoothly as
possible. The council serves a term of four releases/two years at a time,
ending with an LTS release to allow long-term planning.
== Nominations - who and until when? ==
The period for nominations is open from *now* until (and including) August
26. All members in the Xubuntu Team [2] and/or direct members of any
moderated subteams can be nominated, either by themselves or anybody else
in the Xubuntu community with the nominees consent.
All nominations shall be sent via e-mail *before* August 27 to the Xubuntu
Development mailing list.
== Voting ==
The council will consist of 3 members, who are chosen by a CIVS [3] vote.
After the nomination period has ended we will announce the voting period
with more details in a separate E-Mail.
Cheers
Simon
